Figure Manufactures

bullet Front Rank - 25mm - Good if not excellent detail, slightly chunky, but paint up extremely well.  Battalion packs are a good bargain.

bullet Old Glory - 25mm - Good figures, unfortunately sold only in packs, but saying that a pack contains on average 30 figs and works out at another bargain.

bullet Redoubt Enterprises - 25mm - Good figures, wow what a range and their ACW ranges has too many figures to count.

bullet SHQ (? no web site) - 20mm - Excellent WW II 20mm figures.

bullet Peter Pig - 15mm - Good figures.  Not a large amount of ranges, but huge  amount of packs in each range.  Recommend,  Vietnam, ACW and modern African wars.

bullet Gripping Beast - (lost web site - ?now redundant) Truly excellent figures.  Splendid range of every type of dark age warriors you could think of.  Paint up really well.  Seeing is believing as they say!

bullet Whitecross Games - Nice figures, small range at the moment, but I'm sure it will grow.  Late Roman - early Byzantines, plus weapons and shield packs.  Quality very good.  Have not compared figures but could possibly mix in with Gripping Beast figures?

Buildings/Terrain

bullet Hovels - Range of buildings for most historical periods and scales.

bullet Grand Manner - Very impressive buildings with internal detail.  Thus makes them pricey, but ideal for skirmish wargames.

bullet Ainsty Casting Company - Nice building and barricade, also small boats.  Oh! and figures.  Mainly Sci-Fi corridors and fantasy dungeons and sewers!  Also historical and general items.

bullet Snapdragon Studio - Some of the best buildings around, solid and chunky, but reasonably priced.  Everything from Mexican/Spanish, wild west/ACW, WW I & WWII, countryside items and sci-fi.

bullet Billy's Shed - Bit skint, try this web site, all you need is printing paper, colour ink cartridge in the printer and some scraps of card.  Download and print off buildings, easy to assemble.  Great for getting the kids involved in wargaming

bullet Behind The Lines - Excellent little company that sell second hand books, new and second hand war board games (Including the fabulous "ZOMBIES").  They also now stock 'LAST VALLEY' hand made terrain pieces, excellent and bring any wargame too life!

Rules

bullet freewargamesrules.co.uk - Wow!  What a site, loads of rules and games that you can download and print, plus links to rules authors home pages.  Best news it's all for FREE!!

bullet Axles and Alloys - OK maybe not everyone's 'cup of Earl Grey', but take a look anyway.  Site has free rules for a mad max / post holocaust road racing game with guns.  Also explains how to convert toy cars to mean machines with teeth!!   Plenty of pics of cars and trucks.  A future project for me I think - 'oh no not another one', my subconscious groans!!!

General Wargames Stuff

bullet Wargames Forum - Loads of stuff for the wargamer, traders links, reviews section, free rules, clubs directory and even an events diary.

bullet War Flag - Site containing full colour flags of numerous periods ready to be printed off.  Site dose not seem to have been up dated for a while. Then again save money on buying flags for £2:50 a piece!

bullet The Wargames and Military History Search Engine - Um, do I really have to explain, I think not!

Free Wargames Stuff

bullet

Dawn of the dead board game - Yes!  The original board game that costs a fortune to buy second-hand and is being copied and sold in a zip lock bag for nearly the same price, is absolutely FREE, YES FREE!  Just download and print off, ok have to spend time cutting and gluing but hey! As I said it's FREE.

Shows & Clubs

bullet Colours - Reading - Excellent show, good bring and buy stall, although venue could be larger.

bullet Siege - Swindon - Excellent show. Not to big and not to small, a great day out (including cheep club bar!) What more can I say.....Oh! Yes...GO!

bullet Reveille II : The Last Post   - Bristol.  small venue but local. This show is only a couple of years old.

bullet SAD Wargamers - Swindon.  Not true!  A very nice and happy bunch of lads (so they should be, with the price of the beer behind their club's bar)!!

Military Books

bullet Osprey Publishing- Well, what can I say.  The best military books ever published.  If you've never seen one of their books try their web site or better still go to a decent bookshop and take a look.  WARNING once you've brought one, you'll be wanting another and before you know it you will have an overflowing collection and plenty of ear bending from you're wife/partner, I can tell you!!

bullet Caliver Books - Good book company (mail order and shows only),  huge range of periods covered, although specialist in English Civil War.  Also offers out of print and rare books service.

bullet Helion & Company - Another very good book company (mail order and shows), wide range and one good thing, they take book tokens, so you can unload Auntie Flo's birthday and Xmas presents she's given you.

Re-enactment

Non - Wargame Links

bullet Seti At Home - Wow! This is so cool.  Sign- up, it's free, then download the program and first batch of data.  All the data of noises from outer space has been collected, but it will take years and years to analyse.  So you can help by doing this on your PC.  Either in the background or as a screen saver.  First one to detect intelligent life ?  FAME AT LAST!

bullet Darwin Awards - Have you ever wondered why some people are so stupid,  it's a wonder they remember to breath?!  Well take a look at this site and it'll make you wonder even more,  Hey! You may recognise someone!

bullet CoopVets Delta Force Squad - I play DF on-line and  a member of an official squad, At present there are 7 platoons.  We mainly play coop games.  We talk to each other while playing over the net, it's good fun!

bullet The Giant African Land Snail - Myself and another club members has 2 of these each!  There great! Tend to look after themselves easy to care for, just top up food and clean out every 1 - 2 weeks.  Oh and they like a drop of real ale and you can't hear them having heavy philosophical discussions when drunk!!!!

bullet Riverside Drive Mobile Home Park - OK, so why this site?  Well firstly it's another site that I have done and secondly it's my father-in-laws business, so to keep him sweet I've put a link on this site.

bullet streetmattress.com - Well what can I say!  These guys spend the day and night just laying around,  as social outcasts.  a fun sight that WILL make you laugh and you can add you're own constructive comments!  Want to join in?  Then just grab you're camera and get snapping.
